1. (Future Hall of Famer) Bert Blyleven’s 59th birthday! Whenever the Twinkies come to town our broadcast guys always talk with him. He’s definitely a fun guy to listen to. One of quite a few reasons why I love it when the Angels face the Twins! He had a nice birthday hat on and the booth was decorated by his daughter! I hope he had a good one! 

2. The Angels crowd reached the Guiness World Record for most people wearing fleece blankets, beating the Cleveland Cavaliers’ record of 17,758 people. Around 43,510 Angel fans wore their Hideki Matsui snuggies last night and even started a giant Snuggie wave fest!! It was quite a sight I’ll tell you that. Very silly and very funny. Although I can’t help but wonder if the players got distracted because Torii Hunter, in particular, dropped a ball out there he probably, knowing his skills as a stellar outfielder, should have caught…. Nonetheless it was very entertaining!

Anyways I am glad that the season has finally started! And I am also glad that we’re playing the Twins. If the Angels were to suddenly go out of business and the entire team had to be shipped out to different teams as a result (*knocks on wood) I would start rooting for the Twins. The Twins remind me of the Angels in some way. They have a great manager, a respectable organization and hard working, likeable players. You can never count them out for they always are full of surprises! I love the way they play baseball. You can’t get a better opponent than the Twinkies! Not to mention they have some great fans and to-die-for commercials! Glad that they get to play outside in Target Field now!

With that being said, hopefully the Angels can get a win tonight to win the first series!
