And Happy Opening Day! (Well for NYY and BOS fans anyways). I think all baseball fans are excited for the game tonight, at least I am! Baseball is baseball we have waited too long

Now, I am very excited to announce that Jered Weaver is indeed the Opening Day starter! Yay! I’m so happy for him. I’m proud too! He deserves it.

I’m also excited about one player’s return to the club….. but before I say who that person is I have a little background story to tell you all.

My grandparents are the ones who taught me about baseball. They love the game and cherish it so much. It is because of them that our family is infatuated with the game as well. I thank them for everything! Now, because they are immigrants from Korea they do not know english very well yet they know almost every player in the game and everything about it (Well having a sports section in the Korean newspaper helps ) However, sometimes they can’t pronounce a player’s name so they just think of nicknames to give to people in their native language. Figgy is Speedy feet. Jered Weaver is Lanky #1. Ervin Santana is Lanky #2. Scot Shields is Duck Butt……

I don’t think my grandparents think that his butt is shaped like a duck’s butt… but I think it’s their way of saying how he kinda has a butt that sticks out? I have no idea…. we just call him duck butt (in korean) now  

Anyway Scot Shi—– Duck Butt excuse me, missed all of last season because of a knee injury. The only member of the 2002 World Series season, he has posted some incredible numbers as a set up man these past few years. Not to mention he has a rubber arm! During college he once pitched 16 innings and threw 261 pitches (and lost!). Sometimes he can really blow it up but I know that he still has it in him. He’s a great pitcher when given the chance. He’s a great guy too! Hopefully he can have a great season this year and help us with our struggling bullpen. Go Scot Shields!
