This is going to be a short one but this past season there has been this commercial series called “Beyond Baseball”. I’m sure you’ve seen some. For example Tim Lincecum , Fan Loyalty, Grady Sizemore etc. All of them center around characterizations (dedication, inspiration, perseverance etc) that are “beyond baseball”. So that has inspired me to talk about a very recent tragedy that is also “beyond baseball”.

I’m sure you have heard about the 7.0 earthquake that hit Haiti at 5 pm ET today. Haiti, despite it being one of the first post colonial Black-led country in the world is also one of the most poor. They have recently faced hurricanes and tropical storms but this devastating earthquake left much of the country in shambles.

However YOU can help! By doing one (or more) of the following:

1. Donate to the Red Cross  by donating as much money as you want

2. Text HAITI to 90999 to donate $10 to the red cross 

3. Text YELE to 501501 to donate $5 to Haiti earthquake relief

4. Donate to UNICEF by donating as much money as you want

5. Donating to the improvement of Haiti overall. Like I mentioned Haiti is one of the most poorest nations in the world and has been for centuries.

OR you can start your own thing by making care packages, donations, etc. Many other organizations are a part of this relief so please don’t think helping is limited to what I have listed above.

Together we can make a difference whether it’s $5 or $1000. I think it’s worth it, for different countries to come together and help another one in need. 

Thoughts and prayers to the Haiti people and those in America who’s relatives may be in danger or already passed.
